Stories about the complexities of human relationships, the silent burdens we carry alone, and what it takes to keep moving foward when we may not see a way.
A few moments from home and away.
Alex Rosen is an upmarket commercial fiction author whose writing explores the complex realities of human relationships, the silent burdens we carry alone, and the enduring power of family promises.
His deep understanding of invisible trauma, heartbreak, and relational distance is forged through personal lived experience. Before entering the private sector, Alex served as a Special Operations Combat Medic in the military, grounding his perspective in high-stakes tactical medicine and emotional survival. For years following his service, he has worked as an international military contractor in MEDEVAC and Combat Search and Rescue operations across Africa and Southeast Asia. Being in those intense environments while his family was thousands of miles away taught him firsthand the tremendous pressure and profound hardships that geographic separation places on a marriage.
Alex knows the visceral reality of sacrificing everything for those you love, only to navigate severe internal battles and unexpected heartbreak entirely in isolation. It was only after he began the difficult process of opening up and sharing his own silent burdens that he realized how many others are quietly carrying their own hidden pain.
Because of the strict operational security (OPSEC) and patient privacy laws governing his rescue work, Alex maintains a minimal digital footprint rather than an active social media presence. Instead, his focus is entirely on the page. He writes his novels while deployed overseas, working from basic laptop setups inside the windowless, compact tactical housing units and remote tents he calls home while away from his loved ones. Born and raised in Utah, Alex has lived all over the United States throughout his career. Today, he owns a farm in Eastern Tennessee that he has chosen to put on hold so he can support the career path of his new significant other, following her wherever the mission takes her next.
"If You're Reading This..." is his debut novel—written 6,000 miles away from home as an incredibly raw testament to the heavy cost of silent isolation, the critical importance of true communication, and the reality that none of us are meant to get through life's darkest seasons entirely on our own.
